Aviator – ein kräftiger Doppelbock: Das Bierjahr beginnt mit dem Aviator, einem dunklen Doppelbock, der immer zwischen Februar und März durch die Leitungen im Airbräu fließt. Kräftig im Geschmack und Farbe ist er mit Bedacht zu genießen. Die Ursprünge des Doppelbocks finden sich ganz in der Nähe des Airbräus – in einem Kloster im Münchner Stadtteil Au.

Keg at Airbrãu, Munich Airport. Deep copper colour, smsll head. Aroma of dates and bread. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Raisins and brown sugar, syrupy dark bread. Warming mid bitter finish.

Poured from the tap. Slightly hazy copper brown with small light beige head. Mild caramel and toffee with a touch of Bready malt, despite this verging on medium thin body. Okay.

On tap at Airbrau, Munich, Germany, Sunday 10th March. 2019 after bringing Frank, campervan over from UK to Attenkirchen. Pours hazy, dark brown colour with an off white head. Burnt toffee, dark molasses, sticky, sweet and a touch boozy, there is even a little hint of black forest gateaux, I like this, it's the best beer that I've had from Airbrau.

Gezapft in der Brauereigaststätte. Braun-rot, schöne bräunliche, kleinporige Krone. Aroma: Malz, Kaffee, etwas Karamell, wenig Bitterschokolade. Geschmack: Pure Schokolade, bitter, Malz

Keg at the brewery. Pours deep reddish brown, nose is caramel, toffee, malty, bready, taste is similar, rich, bitter.

On tap at the Brewpub. Trübe dunkelbraune Farbe, ordentliche beige Schaumkrone. Geruch schokoladig, röstmalzig, Karamell. Geschmack sehr cremig schokoladig, röstmalzig, viel Karamell, gut!

Süßer, dunkel würziger Malzantrunk. Intensiver malziger Mittelteil, in dem die Süße ausbalanciert ist, wenig fruchtig, kernig. Würziger Nachgeschmack, etwas brotig, geringfügig hopfig. 12/10/11/11//11

Draught at the brewpub. Cloudy dark red and brown colour. Big stable rocky tan head. Sweet flavour, slightly salty. Quite malty and slightly fruity. Finishes a little roasted. Very nice.
