Bottled. Hazy yellow colour, small white head. Aroma is very sour fruits and some slight yeast. Amazingly Cantillonish thing. The flavour is is quite the same as aroma, but has some really big similarities to white wine. Oh yeah! This kicks ass!

Bottled (batch 001)
Hazy yellow-orange color, no head. Sour, fruity Cantillon-like nose. Sour, earthy, fruity (apples and orange). Very lambic-like brew, Brettanomyces is evident here. Balanced. Another good beer from Russian River.

Bottled, thanks cquiroga! Cloudy dark yellow, brief head. Lemony nose. Dry and spritzy, freshly acidic. Vinous and lightly woody with medium body. No bitterness. Freshening and complex, flavourful but not overpowering. Another superb Russian River beer!

(Bottle 37,5 cl) Courtesy of madsberg/IrishBoy. Hazy, orangey golden with a small, off-white head. Sourish, fruity Brett-nose. Medium body with some lightly sweet fruit notes, plenty of Brett accents but never overly sour. Warming notes of oak and vanilla. Finishes dry. A nice one. 270607

Bottle. Rich amber color with slight reddish notes and an off-white head. Great tart, slight malt aroma with some fruitiness. Tart flavor with lots of grape backing and some malt and oak. Lingering tart, fruity grape. Great balance. More oak and tannins and you drink.

Draught samples at BBF on 10/27/06
Deeply hazy brass-riesling colored beer with a fair amount of bubbles flitting about on the surface, finally forming a very flimsy white head that quickly is reduced to a ring on the edges. No lacing left behind, but some light film/residue. No visible carbonation upon settling out from the pour.
Hard, cheesey lacto is strong in the nose right out of the gate, and is closely followed by perky wine notes and some definite minerals (iron, copper, calcium, something like that anyways). VERY fruity with phenols resting on the end (cinnamon, band-aid/smoke, clove). Reminds me much more of chardonnay than it does beer. Which is funny, because temptation doesnt remind me of wine at all. Must be the actual grapes that are thrown in. Fairly strong aroma, with some lemon-lime-like brett notes emerging more as it warms, on the finish.
Sweeter than I’d expect, with an initial fat dose of honey that seems charged with carrying the balance all the way to the finish. Though it’s almost a sweet-and-sour sauce sort of sweetness. Some of the cherry-like notes that others have mentioned, but they turn very sharp and acidic midpalate, blending with grapeskin notes, dry, grapefruit-rind-like lacto notes and lots of sweaty/cheesiness. Nearly oily mouthfeel, with low carbonation and rather large bubbled, giving a sort of slick/wet mouthfeel. Some tight, engaging carbonation would work wonders. As is, it’s a concentrated mess of flavors, though it’s fun picking out random things with every sip. Ends medium-dry, with a fair amount of acidity and a bit of light bread/dough. Some sips provide too much acidity and almost cut at the throat. Still love the stuff though.

5 oz pours at Mugs Belgian Blast (I had to have a few). Pours with absolutely no head or lacing at all. Looks like gelatin its so still. Golden color. A strong aroma and what I get most is lambic sour apple. Imagine the Lindemans Pomme but not so gay. Or more like a real sour tart beer with strong hints of granny smith apples. Also get something thats like a rotting yeast producing some nice sourness and moldy bread. NICE. A very syrupy mouthfeel, surprising and not that liked. Taste is similar. Dont feel as much brett as I would expect.

Tap at Mugs Ale House Belgian Blast - this one seemed to be the most sought-after beer of the event, and for good reason - pretty much perfectly still, with a few large bubbles around the edges - mild funk in the aroma, but oak and white grapes are what come through the most - the flavor isn’t so much sour as it is tart and tannic - this beer picked up A LOT of the chardonnay’s characteristics - some damp oak coming through - I went back for several glasses of this.

Draft at the Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Fest 11/11/06; Nose with tart citrus and wood accents; slightly hazy gold with a small white head; flavor tart with some grape fruitiness mixed with the woody accents and some yeastiness. 7/4/8/4/15 8/13/08 375 ml bottle Batch 001 from Russian River; Nose of light tartness and funkiness with some light oaky wine notes clear gold with a very small white head (light puff of gas released upon loosing the cork); flavor is just medium tartness with some woodiness; decent but not great, rating will stand, just a fairly smooth sour!

Draught Colour not determinable; no head. Brettanomyces with soft sweet notes, but again, "wet floormop" variety, rainwater, lemony. Great lemony flavours, very fruity, tangerines. There is some sweetness, again fruity in character, lurking underneath, but it does not really come out. Adstringent, dry-out effect, lipsmacking sourness stays on the lips. Another very interesting thing by master Vinnie. Pity about the aroma - try another strain?
