Fles 33cl in Pénestin. Klein beetje winterale achtig, beetje zoet, beetje krachtig. (8-2012).

33cl Bottle at De Drie Dorstige Herten. Gusher. Brown colour, big off-white head. Aroma of dust, malts, toast, cocoa, light spicy, honey. Flavour is medium sweet, cocoa, honey, but also quite dry, dusty, almost saison-like dry, herbal spices (kruidenbitter) and some molasses in the finish. Gets better with each sip as it warms up.

Bottled 330ml. -from La Cave à Bulles, Paris. Unclear brown coloured, small to medium sized off-white head, dusty caramel nose. Sweet malty, caramel and dried fruits with notes of alcohol and spices. There’s something odd in the finish that reminds me on sage tea and vegetables mixed with alcohol. Really don’t know?!

Bottle from La Cave à Bulles, Paris
Muddy brown color; gusher bottle, also a lot of yeast. There was clearly a problem; the aroma is spicy and soapy; sweetish caramel aroma with some spices, correct bitterness, a bit soapy as well. Not bad, but not very professional.

A hazy amber beer with a disappearing beige head. The aroma is acidic and fruity. The flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also some spicy notes.

Orange-brown, no head to speak of. Woody, bready, yeasty and slightly spicey nose. Woody taste, slightly phenolic, vegetables - like courgettes, or so. Gets quite vinous in the finish. Mouthfeel much thinner as expected. One would never give this 8 % ABV without knowing. Strange beer - it’s as if it’s deliberatly hiding its qualities. Maybe I ought to retry this completely sober... Certainly none of its 14 herbs spring out.
