Great really chunky, hazy amber and copper coloured body with a muddy amber glow and a thick dense creamy tan head - great looking. Aroma of nice fresh hops, tons of pineapple, a bit of pine, some malt and yeast with a touch of unfinished wort. Medium-bodied; Assertive piney and pineapple flavoured hops with a touch of resin and a good mild sweetness. Aftertaste is nice and complex with a good balance of hops and malt with a nice pleasant and not overly dry hop finish. Overall, a very nice complex IPA with a good balance and a nice west coast hop profile. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Colonial Spirits in Acton, Massachusetts on 23-September-2010 sampled at home in Washington on 20-May-2011.

12oz bottle from AirForceHops, thanks
Appearance: Pours cloudy orange/amber with a medium off-white head that dissipates quickly leaving some spotty lacing
Aroma: Malts, caramel and fruity
Taste: Toasted malts, caramel with a spicy/bitter grapefruit finish
A nice ipa. Crisp, clean and easy drinking.

0.33L bottle, big stable head with lots of lacing, very dark orange with lots of brownish taints and a little hazy, yeasty cheesy aroma with some fruity and spicy notes, strong mellow hrebal bitterness, with hints of nuts and grapefruit, longish bitter aftertaste. A drinkable IPA.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Hazy amber color with a big bubbly white head. Citrusy hops aroma with some pine needles and a bit of slightly biscuity malt. Bitter hoppy flavor with a bit of malt sweetness and caramel. Strong, lingering, slightly spicy, bitter piney finish with some grapefruit. Medium-bodied. Not bad, but quite unbalanced.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a white head. Light spotty lace. The aroma is hoppy, with pine and resin. The taste is pine and citrus hops with some bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. I didn’t allow the brew to warm, I drank rather fast. Normally I’m not a fan of IPA’s, but this one was ok.

From the beer of the month club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy orange-caramel color with a large foamy beige head that lingered and produced some lacing. The aroma was bitter with vague fruits and light caramel, nut and pine with a bit of harshness throughout. The flavor was bitter with notes of pine, grapefruit, butterscotch, caramel and butter. A touch harsh. The finish was long and bitter with pine and butterscotch lingering. Fairly full bodied.

Pour is a murky brown with an average white head. Aroma is caramel and slight hops. Flavor is more malty than hoppy. Its almost all sweet malts that block out an hop profile. Maybe they were going for a old world IPA but the bottle says highly hopped. I did not get any thing in the way of a nice IPA.

Bottle. Clear, deep amber body. Frothy off-white head. Hops in the aroma are muted because of the strength of the malts. otes of caramel, toasted grain, bread, grapefruit, citrus and a hint of pine and herbs. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. The finish is lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 9/10/10
Aroma: The nose is earthy and malty with some citrusy hops in there as well
Appearance: It pours a hazy dark orange-brown color with a thick, creamy tan head
Flavor: The taste starts-off a bit bitter, and then turns bad quickly, aftertaste is rather poor
Palate: This one has a long lasting, rough feel on the mouth, acidic, dry, and almost medicinal feel
Overall Impression: The appearance gives off a really good impression, I was sure fooled. At first I was expecting a decent beer, but this was not one, and I'm an IPA fan. It is not even bitterness that derails this one, I like a well-made harsh-hop beer, this just isn't it. This one is harsh only really in a bad way. Did I get a bad bottle? I don't know. I'd try it again if only to see if there was something wrong with this bottle, but if it tasted like this again, it would probably be a drain pour.
2.2: 6/4/3/2/7
Updating this rating with a 22 oz bottle from my brother-in-law, 7/2/15. Thanks bud!
Look, this probably isn't a 2.2, but I'm not sure I had a bad bottle on my first rate either.
New score is: 2.7: 5/4/5/3/10

Big thanks to LilBeerDoctor, such a great trader! This is one of many ipswitch I got from her. I saved this till last because its one of my least favorite styles. Pour is a little brown on a pale yellow background. Smell is IPA all the way. Big rocky head does not fade. During the pour this stuff foams like a nitro stout! First taste is on style and rude, big bitter roto-tilling hops across my tongue and down the back of my throat. Quite over the top, borders on imperial IPA territory. Some carbonation in there but its overwelmed by the big obnoxious bitterness. Chewing on green grapefruit rinds mixed with dish soap, yes quite on style. Just a big NASTY reminder why I dislike IPA so much, wew. Long bitter rude finish that reminds me of some of the worst medicine I ever tasted. Tho I don’t like IPA, I asked LilBeerDoctor to send me this since I never had before and she gladly responded!
