(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 1 March 2014) Dark brown colour with hints of ruby. Frothy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark bread, coffee and caramel. Malty, roasted taste with notes of caramel, raisins, brown sugar, dark bread and a fairly sweet finish with a gentle bitterness. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Nice one.

Dubbel style beer with a very malty body. Sweet taste, mostly of licorice. Not very good.

Draft at In De Wildeman. Pours clear dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma of rubber, rancid fruit (if such a thing is even possible), and weeds. This is truly awful. Tasting this I can’t even go any further. This is horrible.

On tap at Cafe Briljant, Haarlem. Poured a clear dark brown with a reddish hue and a frothy off white head and a little lace. The aroma is big yeast and little else. The flavour is moderate sweet, moderate bitter with a red berry fruit, light alcohol bitter, yeasty palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

On tap at In de Wildeman. Dark reddish brown colour, beige head. Aroma of tart dark fruits, amber malts, confit fruits, cocoa, husks. Flavour is medium-sweet, much like a strong Belgian amber winter beer, husks, grain, cocoa, it has a nasty characteristic there that I really can’t get past. Light-bodied. Not very good IMHO.
