Noest is a dark, mildly sour beer with delicate notes of toasted bread, cacao and red fruit. It was aged in a stainless steel fermenter for 6 months. We fermented it with traditional English yeast and matured it with Brettanomyces, which gives this beer its exciting vinous character.
Noest tastes like a love affair between a porter and a Flemish red, which is not so strange if you consider that Flemish red is actually derived from early porters.
Where modern porters are usually quite sweet and full, Noest is subtle and dry and that's exactly how we want it to be: a beer that will lift you up and quench your thirst when you come home from work, be it summer or winter!

Bottle picked up from Etre Gourmet, Grez Doiceau, Belgium drinking this sat outside at home Attenkirchen Sunday 19th April 2020 day 31 of Coronavirus lockdown. We're listening to Porridge Radio - Every Bad and cooking homemade Pizza in the woodoven tonight and I am making Rhubarb Crumble Ice Cream, btw it's yet another glorious day. Pours dark brown, murky with a beige head, soft mouthfeel. Dark fruits, some tangy fig and dates, it's tangy, this is good, the Brett shows it's presence throughout.

Clear deep amber colour, small frothy beige head, dissipating slowly. Aroma roasted malt, black currant, blue berrie, brett. Flavour medium sweet and sour, fruity, brett. Mild sweet and sour finish, woody notes, medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Well-made and very drinkable, nice.

2019/02/09 Bottle at home (as Noest). Clear dark brown with offwhite head. Sour rye malts, dusty, distant, sour rotting oak and dark fruit, chestnutty, sour balsamic. Dry, watery, bitter and light sour. About medium body and low carbonation. Bit sad rainbarrel water. Least favorite Nevel beer I recently tried. Love the golden sours. [6/6/7/6/7]. //// Another chance for this one at 11/28/2019. Noest b#1. From bottle. Dark brown pour with offwhite head. Nutty, woody, rotten oak rainbarrel, chestnut, coffee roast, cola, softening liquorice-like herbs, brett, soft vanilla touch, some horsey lambic funk, hints toward sourness but not even really there. Nice soft bitter and fruity sweetness, deep oaky character. Medium body and soft carbonation. Powdery dry finish, quite a treat.
