Ab Ende Oktober/Anfang November gibt es – traditionell zur Weihnachtszeit – unser „Bockbier“, ein dunkles, süffiges Starkbier mit ca. 16 – 17% Stammwürze. Unser Bockbier ist ein Geheimtipp unter den Bamberger Starkbieren und reicht deshalb meist nur bis kurz vor Weihnachten – probieren Sie also rechtzeitig!

From tap de wildeman. Pours dark brown with a dense and creamy white head. Quite malty and slight yeasty in aroma, light smoked note. Smoohroasted malty base flavour with a nice subdued sweetness. Complimented by a light meady smoked note. Nice bitterness following into the finish.

Malziger Antrunk, leicht rauchig, die Intensität überzeugt, da sowohl die Aspekte des Bocks als auch des Rauchmalzes deutlich erkennbar sind. Die Rauchigkeit, die sich dem bekannten "Schinken-Aroma" annähert, wird stärker, ebenso der würzige Beiton. Die Rauchigkeit ist nun der Hauptbestandteil, cremig, wie vorher sehr harmonisch. Im Abgang etwas süßer und malziger, die Rauchnoten sind hier nur noch zaghaft vertreten. Das Bier stellt einen guten Kontrast zu dem viel rauchigeren Schlenkerla Urbock dar. Gerne wieder! Draft. A deep red beer with a collapsing light brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of smoke, caramel, alcohol, and berries. The flavor is sweet malty with quite a lot of alcohol, that hits early, but then strong notes of caramel mixes in combined with some fruit, leading to a slightly smoky finish. The alcohol tickles the tongue.

(On tap) Beautiful, clear orangey brown - a shade darker than the Märzen - with a small, off-white head. Sweetish aroma of roasted malt - the smoke is only a hint. Quite full-bodied with sweet notes of roasted malt and burned caramel. In the flavours the smokiness is only discreet and pleasant. Dry finish where the alcohol starts to show. Quite interesting and more harmonious than its more famous cousin from Schlenkerla. 081106

(bottle, handed over by pivnizub – thanks !) Clear mahogany colour with a foamy beige medium head. Light sweet aroma of dark and toasted malts with caramel, liquorice and a subtle smokiness. Moderately sweet toasted malty flavour and taste with caramel, medium to full bodied, slightly bitter and smoky malty finish with a whiff of herbal hops. Definitely not as smoky as the Schlenkerla Bock, but also a well crafted Bock with its own character.

Draught. 6,5%. Very weak hvidtøl aroma. Clear, very dark brown colour. Small stable light brown head. Roasted flavour, nicely malty. Smokiness kicks in in aftertaste along with a bit of horse. Quite mild, but nice. Like a really nice Dunkel with a clean and nice smokey aftertaste.

Bottle (bought at the brewpub) : Deep amber coloured, mid-sized fluffy head, quickly diminishing to a stable off-white layer; sweet malts in the nose, raisins, a bit vinous, too, distinctive, but "soft" traces of smoke; slightlöy sweet flavour with a bitter touch; delicate smoked finish with a good dash of sweet malts and hoppiness. Avery well rounded smoked Bock, harmonic, not too sweet, not too much smoke............

Clear brown color, short brown head. Aroma of rye, quite overwhelming, some oatmeal, bit smoked. Very malty taste, rye, bit smoked again but too little. Bitter and malty aftertaste. As bierkoning said: less character than expected.
