Cask at Bow Bar. Pours clear golden. Aroma is fruity, low citric hops and flowers. Body is medium, strongly bitter without lacking sweetness, and flat of course. Sweetish flavours which are hard to pin down, but they harmonise well. Lingering bitterness on the palate, never letting go and giving a full experience. Good.

Tall font at the Bow Bar, Edinburgh. It pours clear amber with a thick foamy white head. The aroma is freshly cut grass, perfumed, soapy grapefruit, resin and piss. The taste is firmly dry, bitter, grassy, resinous, rawness, candied citrus, grapefruit, soapy, floral accents, biscuit and peppery with a lingering bitter - dry finish. Medium body and fine, airy carbonation. A pretty robust strong bitter. Perhaps a bit raw, but decent anyhow.

On cask @ the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - slightly off blonde towards amber with a nicely proportioned head. Nose - really lovely, pine going into almost lavender. Some resin in the background. Taste - toffee, fresh herbs going into a citrus/pine finish. Palate - light to medium in body, a creamy texture and a long clean finish. Overall - stunning nose, well balanced.

Cask-conditioned at the Barley Mow, Bristol 18/5/2013. Amber with a decent, off-white head. Citrus fruits, some biscuity malts and a decent, bitter finish. A good beer.

Cask @ Golden Rule, Edinburgh [270213]
Amber, clear, dense white head, good lacing, unusual pump clip
Aroma of citrus hops, nice soft zest
Taste of soft grapefruit hops, some pithy citrus fairly sweet breakfast juice, soft citrus zest, good light fairly pale malt background
Palate - Light to medium body, soft oily texture. Soft citrus bitterness, good bittersweet balance. Finish as main flavour, soft grapefruit pith, soft bitterness
Overall - I prefer this to The Duke, it’s a more balanced better beer imho. Very drinkable

Aroma: Soft peach, straw and vine tomatoes.

Appearance: Slightly hazy golden body with thick white cap that holds well. No carbonation. Great lacing.

Taste: As with other Highland beers I’ve tried, this has great balance. Light citrus fruit hop balanced with the biscuity flavour of the pale malt. Low bitterness.

Palate: Medium body with a slick, oily mouthfeel. No carbonation.

Overall: A lovely, straightforward Golden Ale. I think this would work well on keg.
