Smoked Red Ale. Amber ale, earthy and malty, with a tannic tea flavor and a subtle smokiness. Brewed with smoked malts and pimped with a hint of Tarry Suchong, a chinese smoked tea, this amber ale is surprisingly subtle and food friendly smoked.

Bottle from Wine & Cheese. Pours cloudy amber with virtually no head.Very light aroma of smoke- but mostly fruit. Medium body with biting carbonationl Very flroal and fruity. However, a definite finish of biting tea-like flavor. Very interesting.

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of ,aramel, elderflowers, and spices. The flavor is sweet with notes of spices and caramel, as well as light notes of smoke. The body is light. Thanks omhper for sharing.

12oz Pizza Paradiso in Dupont Circle, Washington D.C. Pours a hazy, translucent, copper amber with a slightly tan, creamy head. Earthy aroma, tea, lemons, Belgian yeast, dried spices, dried herbs. Flavor had brown sugar, a touch of Belgian candy, both sweet and tart, lightly toasted grains and a flavor I can only described as ’cold smoked hay’. Finish is dry and a little bitter with an effervescent mouth feel that includes a little sourness. Very interesting, I’d definitely order this again. I don’t know if this iis a raucbier even though perhaps some elements are smoked. Regardless, check this out.

Bottle from Au Grain d´Orge, Neuchâtel
Cloudy dark color; big head. The aroma is light, earthy, maybe smokey. It has dry caramel flavor, dry mouthfeel, the usual BFM harsh and astringent character, but this time it´s possibly too much; very light smokey touch. Letting it rest for some time, it becomes mellower, but the underlying beer is still shallow. The strange BFM fermentation… I had better ones.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of omhper. Hazy amber golden with a dense, creamy and off-white lacing head. Lightly tart aroma with some caramel and fruit. Weak note of smoke. Medium body, a little low in carbonation, tart and lightly smoked. Somewhat astringent finish. Not overly pleasant. 051008

Bottled@omhper-post-SBWF-1st-weekend tasting. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is hops, some sweetish sour notes as well ad mild yeastyness and smoke. Flavour is hops, some smoked wooden notes as well as caramel malts. A rather interesting thing. Roasted malts and mild notes of grass and some acidic fruits. Interesting.

Bottled, thanks Bov! Hazy amber, lively head. Just a whiff of smoke up front. Dryish and medium bodied. Lightly yeast. Quite hoppy with orangey notes. Floral and vinous with evident Belgian roots. Lightly minerally with this slight smokey tea flavour undeneath. A complex and relaxed, quite unusual beer. There is never a dull beer coming from BFM!
