Smoked Red Ale. Amber ale, earthy and malty, with a tannic tea flavor and a subtle smokiness. Brewed with smoked malts and pimped with a hint of Tarry Suchong, a chinese smoked tea, this amber ale is surprisingly subtle and food friendly smoked.

0.33 l bottle from 'Drinks of the World' (Basel), best before November 2026. Hazy, amber with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, quite smoky and slightly fruity aroma of lapsang souchong, caramel and red fruits. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, quite smoky and slightly fruity taste of caramel, red fruits, tobacco and lapsang souchong, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly dry finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Interesting one, haven't had a beer with lapsang souchong for quite some time.

Must have gotten an old bottle. amber pour almost no head or carbonation. Syrupy vinegar with tea. Couldn’t finish it.

Bottle as BATS. Clear amber body with a nice, dense tan head. Quite mild aroma, malt, oak and very light smoke. Flavor is rather sweet, smooth and pleasant with malt, some caramel, light smoke and hint of cellar notes. Well balanced body and smooth in aftertaste as well. Very nice beer, a little disappointed as the smoke part is close to nothing, perhaps this has faded during storing? Anyway a smooth, tasty and slightly original beer.

It’s like a beer that is left open in a house fire.

BFM BATS Smell-weak malt. Foam- thin, malty, weak hops, bit herbal. Head is tiny to small, creamy, brown, white color.. still light. Appearance- resealable unique brewer bottle. Cloudy brown color, no carbonation. From- snifter Taste - weak malt, some sediment in taste, but generally neutral and malty. Nothing much to talk about.. faint herbal notes.

As a BFM BATS. 330ml Swing-top bottle. From Sterk Amsterdam. Do do Frankonskich piw jeszcze daleka droga. To takie pierwsze wrazenie.

Pours reddish brown with a thin creme colored head. Aroma of smoke and salty, a little meaty. Taste has smooth, dry malt with smokey notes, a little bit of hickory and autumn leaves. Palate has residual smoked notes on the nose, very mild hop elements on the back of the throat. Good.
