Hard Decision Bourbon BA

Bottled. Black colour with a smakl foamy brown head. Aroma is roasted, chocolaty, some alcohol, bourbon, vanilla and mild spiciness to it. Flaovur is liquorice, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, alcohol, some mild roasted tones as well as a wee bit espresso like elements and very dark chocolate in the finish.

Bottle at home. Pours black with very little head. Aroma is dark malts, red wine notes, bourbon, prunes, and some funk and green apple. Big body. Flavour is rich and malty, lots of chocolate and coffee but not too much roasted barley. Considering it's an oatmeal stout it could be a bit smoother, not getting that oat character here. Barrel is very noticeable and there's definitely a touch of bourbon, but in a blind tasting I would have put my money on this being a red wine BA - a lot of flavours I associate with that kind of barrel, like light acidity, some funk and a general grape and wine note. Not what I was expecting from the description and understandable that it gets some bad reviews here. It is still tasty however and had it been sold as a wine BA (perhaps even with brett) it would have probably been better received. As it is I don't get much from the bourbon barrels, but I still get a good impy.

Bottle. Black. Red fruit, licorice in the aroma. Full bodied. Sweet with some vinous sourness. Red fruit, coconut, vanilla, hints of bourbon. Decent enough, but was the sourness intentional?

(Bottle, 0.33 l - batch 20180925 - BBE 09/2028, from Alko Arkadia, 20190320) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had vanilla, wood, sweetness and burnt malts. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, vanilla, wood, burnt malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had vanilla, sweetness and bitterness. An unbalanced burnt brew with strong barrel notes.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of green apple, chocolate, malt, tart, red fruit and some funk, oh oh. Taste has green apple, bourbon booze, oak, chocolate, mildly tart red fruit and vanilla. Something obviously went wrong here. Too bad.

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, sweet malt, dark malt, roasted, chocolate, alcohol - bourbon. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, dark malt, roasted, sweet malt, chocolate, bourbon, licorice. Borefts X. Day 1. Keg. Opaque dark brown - black beer, tidy dark tan head. Smooth palate, soft and a little viscous. Modest fine carbonation. Rich but soft dark malts, a little dark chocolate. Mild dark fruits. Bourbon barrel? Pretty mellow and soft, very light touch. Light finish. Tasty enough.

Keg at dark city... Dark black.. Small tan head.. Earth woody chocolate.. Light iodine chocolate roast malts nose.. Heavy boozy chocolate roast malts.. Big boozy chocolate
