Nose is underwhelming, sweet, Belgian yeast, slight lactose, lots of almond / marzipan, cola. Taste lacks depth, brown sugar, vanilla, cola, slight lactose and almond in the lightly spiced finish, The beer lacks depth. Mouthfeel is thin The beer seems more like a spiced West Indian stout than an Imperial, and it’s not great.

BOTTLE 33 CL.

Look: clear dark ruby-brown almost black, yeast flakes, big beige creamy head.
Aroma: starts with harsh sulphury notes that goes away after a while, some stale vinegary wine, sweet prunes, dates, a bit soapy, a touch of black malts.
Taste: starts with some alcoholic spice, but the sweetness takes over as the beer warms up. Quite sweet, dark sugar, some sweet dried fruit (dates, prunes), light bitterness builds on in the finish but never really balances the sweetness out. Decent.

Strong version of the classic Buffalo, originally only intended for export on 75 cl. Yellowish beige, dense head, colour a very opaque brown, bordering on black but not the jet black I would expect from a big stout. Aroma of liquorice, coffee, almond, milk chocolate, candied dates, cane sugar, biscuit, aniseed, blue grapes; taste malty, soft with a powdery and somewhat oily mouthfeel, dark fruits, sweet, perhaps even a tad syrupy, nice spicy notes adding complexity and finishing in a kind of friendly roasted bitterness with herbal hops and warming alcohol. Very well balanced.
