It is hardly a secret that we at the Amager Brewery have a deep rooted love for Imperial Stouts - the noblest of all beers. In fact, we are constantly in the process of developing new variations of this fine beverage, this variation has eight malts and three hops. We are particularly proud to present what we feel is the king of hops: Zeus.

Amager Imperial Stout is a beer as black as mortal sin , crowned with the densest and most creamy light brown head. The coffee and chocolate accents are very distinct, but they come exclusively from the malt, while the aroma is rich with vanilla.
Amager Imperial Stout is in all respects a fierce beer for the more demanding and experienced beer drinkers who are not afraid to challenge their senses.
Ingredients: Water, barley malt, wheat malt, oats, brown sugar, hops and yeast

500 mL bottle courtesy of Butters at the 15th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 7/16/11. Pours a very dark reddish brown color with a thin creamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, nutty notes and bitter hops. The taste is roasted malts, oatmeal, caramel and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. Nice.

Whoppers candy, chocolate coated malt balls aroma. Mahogany, thick tan head. Charcoal and chocolate flavor. Musty finish. Good, with neat subtleties, but not really all that special.

Very opague black, as it should be. Pretty roasty smell, but also a hint of flowers and alcohol. Tastes a bit less like alcohol then the smell makes you think.

Black, opaque. Creamy light brown, average head. Flowers, roasted, hops and light alcohol in smell. Taste very much coffee and hops, light fruityness.

Medium dark brown head. Nearly opaque black body goes dark red at edges. Deep earthy cocoa aroma with caramelly alcoholic hop notes, as well as traces of paper and honey. Sweet-dryish coffee and cocoa taste with earthy burnt notes. Full body. Soft and hot mouthfeel. Dryish roasty earthy caramelly aftertaste with honey, soot, and alcohol notes. Excellent! I’ve aged it for a year in the cellar, which really has helped it, but any way you look at it this is a great beer. Gorgeous honeyish soft burntness. (0.5l bottle, Fish & Beer, Copenhagen.)

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to pancake surface leaving scant sheets. Dark chocolate and coffee aromas. Sweet milk chocolate and dark espresso from front to back. Lasting bitter chocolate finish.
