California, that is sun, energy, ideas, optimism, and that’s exactly what we were trying to put in our California. We hope you find all of it in there once you try it. Originally, it is based on the British Pale Ale, but the American version is zestier and foamier. We also added something Czech, so it is a US/CZ version.

On tap at Purkmister Sun in a Glass Bierfest, Purkmister brewpub, Plzeń, Friday 19th September 2025 after a walk from our campsite at Škodaland Plzeń into the city then back out after a couple of beers in the city. Pours clear bright gold with a white head. This is a very nice APA, there's a nice brisk, crispy bite, bitterness, citrus leading to a meandering dry finish.

On tap at The Beer Spot Prague. Pours clear pale gold with a white head. Allium and old hops on the nose. Flavour has allium, bitter citrus peels; very tired hop expression. Not particularly good.

Clear golden pour with white head. Nose is fruity, sweetish floral hops. Taste is moderate bitterness, fruity hops. Super easy to drink, crisp and refreshing.

Aroma of grass, citrus, fruits, hops. Flavour is grassy, fruity and hoppy, with a medium bitter finish. Very refreshing APA.

Tap at Colmore, Birmingham. Clear gold with nice creamy white head. Quite grassy with grapefruit, light spice, some zest. Big bitter bite to this one. Medium bodied with soft fine carbonation. Enjoyable. I like Czech pale ales as some seem to have one foot in their lager tradition to create something approaching an IPL but with that extra quality.

From tap @ Meetnicka in Bratislava. Head is big, white, good retention. Colour is gold, hazy. Aroma citrus, orange, grapefruits, bit tropical fruits. Taste is medium malty base, citrus, grapefruits, orange, grapes, tangerine, bit tropical fruits, dry on the palate, good one, enjoyed.

Draught @ MeetFactory, Prague. Crisp, slightly fruity and grassy with hints of citrus and grapefruit.
