Sour Pale Ale

Dūmų Brewery in Vilnius, Vilnius County, Lithuania 🇱🇹

  Sour / Wild Beer Regular
Score
6.69
ABV: 4.2% IBU: 30 Ticks: 30
Ingredients: Pale ale, CaraPils malts; Equinox, Citra hops; Wyeast 1056 yeast; water.

For this brew were inspired by two totally different brewing traditions. German kettle souring, known from production of Leipzig Gose or Berliner Weisse and American hopping rates and juicy hops.
Hopped with Citra and Equinox it definitelly has some nice papaya / passion fruit character. These exotic flavours are paired to lactic fermentation. Strange but very drinkable combo. Like a liquid summer trapped in a glass.

Pours murky light orange from the bottle. The fizzy head fades fairly quickly. The aroma is melon, guave, chemical fertilizer. Taste is very tart, in the direction of green apple, but underlined by sweet melon. Finishes with increasing sourness. Body is light to medium. Refreshing.

Pours dark orange, bit hazy. Nose is sour lacto, maybe getting a hint of plastic. Tastes also sour and quite light bodied. There are not that many sour pale ale’s around and this one is done quite well.

Medium amber color. Amazing sour apricot, grapefruity nose with marmalade. The mouth shows some plastic, slightly sour, with apricots in the end. Medium body. Modestly hoppy. Has potential.
