Brown Ale with Coffee Brewed For: Pairing The Two Best Things.
Refreshing like an iced coffee, aromatic like a bag of freshly roasted beans, and satisfying like your favorite beer.
Guatemalan coffee, roasted locally, is added to our house oatmeal brown ale. Cold press coffee aromatics and intense coffee flavors are balanced by the oats in the malt bill, resulting in a cappuccino-like creaminess.

Can courtesy of schmidtguy. Rich earthy coffee and light mocha aroma. Deep dark brown with a large beige head. Big roasty coffee flavor with a hint of mocha. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Two of my favorite things.. coffee and beer.

Pours clear brown with a tall tan head. Rich aroma of coffee and chocolate. The flavor delivers pretty much what youβd expect from the aroma. lot so coffee and chocolate with just a bite of espresso. Very smooth for a coffee beer.

Taste is tiny sweet, bitter and malty with dark bread, roasted malts, sweetened dark roast coffee, vanilla fudge, butterscotch, banana bread, golden syrup, walnut skins, toffee, burnt caramel and moist wood. Mouthfeel is round, smooth, tiny watery and light to medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, sweetened dark roast coffee, dark bread, golden syrup, walnut skins, caramel and toffee.

500mL can, sent from FullObs (thanks a lot, Brett), pours a dark amber / brown with a thick, creamy beige head. Nose is full of filtered coffee, and some light toasted nuts. Flavour is dominated by espresso notes, a little sweet malt, and some tea-like accents. Basically coffee upfront, and a tea-like character on the finish. Highly drinkable, with an extremely light body. Solid stuff.

Can. Pours a dark brown with a medium creamy beige head leaving sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a strong coffee roast and nuts. Thin mouthfeel with a strong coffee flavor with chocolate and roast. Easy to drink with a smooth finish. A good brown ale from Surly.

Can. Huge coffee nose, grounds, light chocolate. Purple-red tints in dark brown. Flavor is coffee, fruity and minerals, a bit of chili. Doesnβt seem the use of coffee was done right. Nose is too strong and acrid.

Solid coffee beer. The brown ale underneath is a bit on the weak side, offering more toffee notes than I expected and a moderately thin texture, but the delicious java finish washes away any complaints. Smooth with a hint of coffee acidity, the fade is roasted and bitter, guaranteeing you some coffee breath to go along with your beer breath. Might as well eat a gyro and go for the trifecta.

From the 4/2012 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 16 oz can this beer poured a dark nut brown color with a small soapy tan head that left decent lacing. The aroma was strong coffee, cream and was a touch burnt. The flavor was strong coffee, cream and artificial sugar with an astringent undertone. The finish was long with lingering coffee and cream. Medium body. Interesting.

[Thanks to MatSciGuy]. 16fl. can. Brown colour with a decent formation of a frothy, foamy and tan head, moderate lacing and lasting. Aroma has coffe notes, moderate malty and slightly sugary. Flavour has, above all, coffee traces, dry fruits hints, perhaps nuts and toasted almonds, toasted and roasted malts, slightly sweet with a moderate bitterness in the final. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium to high. Texture is oily.
