The latest release in our Abstrakt series. Aged for over 14 months in barrels, AB:13 is an 11.3% Cherry Imperial Stout aged in ex Sherry whisky barrels.
Cherry & Sherry, the recipe was devised by our production manager Nikola and is based on the classic German Schwarzlwald dessert. This is very, very special. Pretty much all of our team have been blown away by this oak aged beer as it rattled off our bottling line.

Bottle shared at home. Pours near-black with a lasting brown head. Aroma is a kiss goodnight on a chocolate pillow. Taste has smooth fruit and more chocolate. Think green & blacks dark chocolate with cherry. Smooth finish. The warm afterglow of time well-spent doing something not everybody approves of.

Bottle at home. It pours black with a medium dark tan head. the nose is rich roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit, ripe cherry, cherry brandy, fruit cake, touch of liquorice and jam. The taste is rich, indulgent, roasted malt, coffee, tangy berry, black cherry, dark fruit, jam, whisky, chocolate, alcohol and light metal. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Flavoursome and rather well-balanced. Definitely on the top-tier of Abstrakts!

[5/4/13] Draught at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013. Black with a beautiful huge creamy brown head. Roasty aroma with bourbon, wood, chocolate and some dark fruits. Sweet flavor with chocolate, whiskey, wood, dark fruits and a bit of an alcohol burn in the finish. Full-bodied. Great.

Bottle at home from Brewdog online all to myself! Thick viscous oil slick of a pour. Thin dark tan head. Bags of legs. Aroma is sweet berry soft roast and rich dark chocolate. Flavour is sweet salty berry, raspberry. Finish is bold roast, but not at all astringent. Long duration. Soft carbonation and thick on the tongue. Overall very enjoyable. Nicely balanced and bold.

Draft. A black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, brettanomyces, and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with an acidic edge and notes of roasted malt, alcohol, wood, and brettanomyces, leading to a dry and roasted finish.
