Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Ariel. Black with a brown head. Aroma of roast, lots of licorice, some coffee, and a bit of alcohol. Bittersweetish roasty flavor with salty licorice, coffee, and a bitter finish with some alcohol. Full-bodied. Good, but a bit too much licorice and alcohol.

Pours black, nice brown foam head. Aroma soft, not dominated by anything but a bit of milky roastyness. Taste is warming, bit of boozy roastyness and roast is quite strong in this. Still smooth, nice creamy chocolate and finishes with a longer roasty finish. Good stuff, nice sipping beer.

Pitch black color. Dark brown head. The is fairly linear nose doesn’t show much depth, but the mouth is stickly, heavy, sweet with licorice, the muscavado sugar is apparent with lots of roasted malt, dark chocolate. Big dark chocolate finjsh.

Poured into a taster showing dark opaque center with coffee translucent rims and sparse latte colored foam. The nose shows rancid milk (is this off?) The palate shows high carbonation and a medium body. Sweet black sugar throughout and slightly over-sweet for the flavor. Strong alcohol bite, finishes on espresso bitter note.
