Brewed since 1994, our Black Chocolate Stout has itself become a modern classic, heralded the world over. It achieves its dark chocolate aroma and flavor through the artful blending of six malts and months of aging. Properly kept, it will improve in the bottle for many years.

(Thanks, Roman Mansquito) A- Cocoa, faint cherry. A- Black color, dark liquid, beige head. T- Cocoa, roasty, mild alcohol, mild bitterness. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Took me a while but finally got this top want list beer. I must say, while it was a good beer all around, I'm not sure it's as world class as I was led to assume it would be. Wanted a lot more chocolate. Drank at 1 year old.

Dark black from the bottle with minimal beige head which soon goes. Aroma gives the obligatory dark chocolate, bit of coffee and a big whisky barrel hit. Taste is bitter and boozy but also with a kahlua like creaminess. Booziness gives a tingle in the mouth. After taste is full of booze, and then fades into chocolatey bitterness. Very nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Black Chocolate Stout on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7. Bottle, winter 06/07. Black and opague. Roast, dark chocolate and a hint of licorice in the aroma. Malty, salty flavor with licorice, cacao and dark chocolate, coming up strongly in the aftertaste. Full bodied, just a bit alcoholic, but well balanced.

(On tap) Black wit a an head. Aroma of toffee, chocolate, hints of ash. Full bodied, smooth, slightly sticky. Taste is rich and complex - molasses, chocolate, raisins, hints of cherries. Some pleasant bitterness in the finish. Very nice.

Last bottle of my 2014 stash. Not as much chocolate flavor as when it was fresh, but it’s aged remarkably well!
