Bottle from Kaufland, Bremen. Black with a lasting light brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and roasted moderate bitter finish. Carbonation is a bit high. 170417

Bottle. Opaque black with a big beautiful foamy beige head. Almost no lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts and some coffee. Taste of dark bitter chocolate, a little bit espresso and mousse au chocolat, chocolate cake and even more chocolate without being sweet. Aftertaste is dry, slightly sour and a tad bit bitter. Full bodied, creamy and smooth. Medium to strong carbonation. Yes, it could be more complex but it’s fine as it is.

The beer has a great and intense thick brown foamy head. The beer below is deep and rich, roasted smooth with toffee and burned sugars. Dry and sticky rich beginning. Lots of caramel and dark brown sugars. Not too sweet but rich and round in body. No hop bitterness, only bitterness from roasted grain, rich, intense, burned. Burned sugar with caramel and deeply roasted grain in the aftertaste. Creamy and smooth, roasted and intense. Fascinating!

Bottle shared at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Tom C. for this bottle! Black with a bit of tan foam. Aroma of licorice, malt, caramel, roast, alcohol. Sweet flavor with malt, caramel, licorice, roast, alcoholic. Medium-bodied. OK. A bit too boozy and one-dimensional.
