Keg at Hopcat Madison, 8/15/16. Hazy orange, large creamy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of strong coffee, pale malt, earth. The taste is citrus, lime, pale malt, coffee in the finish. Medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness.

Pours a deep gold with some swirling white head. Nose has malt, honey, some butterscotch, a little blonde roast coffee, some green coffee cherry/green bell pepper. Flavor is sweet with honey and very mild butterscotch, perhaps its a bit more golden treacle, the coffee is there but very sweet, like a frappucino. Finishes drier than I thought.

Sampled on draft at Tapped this beer poured a cloudy dark amber color with a medium sized foamy orange-beige head that left excellent lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy with notes of tropical fruit, table sugar and orange. No coffee on the nose. The flavor was bitter and tart with notes of orange, tropical fruit and brewed coffee. Long orange and coffee finish. Medium body. Interesting.

Bottle shared. Thanks Gregg! Strong roasted coffee nose, some light popcorn and chocolate aromas. Quite bitter on the palate. Fun coffee version of crooked tree.

Pours amber, not much foam, kind of flat even. Aroma has some malt breadiness that is served with coffee. Grainy coffee if it makes any sense. Lots of coffee also in flavour, hops are filling up the background but coffee still dominates in the front stage. Coffee also in the linger, prickly bitterness, hop and cofffee blending. Triple punch - alcohol, hops and caffeine - not sure I could drink a lot of it but definitely is a great beer to try.

Very spicy, green pepper, citrusy, hoppy nose. Super lovely nose. Medium body with tons of green pepper, citrusy notes with good malty backbone. Excellent. take on coffee ipa. A bit of citrus at the finish with strong green pepper.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 7/1/2016. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep orange/amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of nutty medium roast coffee, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops, coffee, and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of nutty medium roast coffee, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel and light roasted coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of coffee, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice compelxity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops, coffee, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent hop/coffee flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky/resinous, and fairly creamy/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice coffee IPA. All around nice compelxity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops, coffee, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Tastes very similar to Crooked Tree with coffee flavor. Not quite as bright/juicy on the hop character with the added coffee, but still very enjoyable.
