The Bivouac BIPA has a bold hop presence with notes of resin, pine, orange and grapefruit citrus that coats the palate. Dark malts give the Bivouac a blast of coffee and roast that is not harsh, but compliments the hop profile and finishes dry. At 8.9% ABV, there is some alcohol heat that warms nicely but is not overpowering.

Day 10 can from the Beer Republic Advent Calendar. Aroma is bitter, resin and coffee. A floral streak. Datk and glossy. Foamy beige head. The flavour mirrors the aroma - bitter resin and black coffee with added liqourice. Has a fruity tangy edge. Also underlying caramel. Medium bodied. Slick to oily. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. In yer face Impy BIPA.

Can Day 10, Loz's Beer Republic Advent Calendar, Tuesday 10th December 2024, about to cook a Thai Chicken Curry and put on ByteFM. Pours black with a light beige head. This is wonderful, a very balanced roastiness, a pleasant hoppiness, good bitterness, a little bit of smokiness,(there are a lot of words ending in 'ess' ). I really like this, great bittersweet balance, citrus, woody, great.

Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of foam. Light roasted malt nose with some berry and cacao notes. Juniper, cacao nib and faint plum and apricot as it warms up. Not overly astringent. Very well executed and highly drinkable for a black IPA.

Absolutely stunning Black IPA, matching its citric DIPA leanings with a big, giant roasty Black Ale heartiness. Pours gorgeous, a deep dark brown with a massive foam ring on top, and the nose is a mind-bogglingly rich mix of dark malt and piney citrus hops. Starts out with a burst of bright fruity hops, then suddenly switches gears and amps up the roasted Porter-ish heft, bring both mild notes of coffee and chocolate before finishing hoppy and huge with a lengthy pine bitterness. Delicious. The finest Black IPA I’ve come across.
