Lampshade Party Ale™ is a limited release that celebrates a night best partially remembered.
This Double IPA is dry-hopped with Australia’s Galaxy and the Pacific Northwest’s new-school IPA hop, Idaho 7. The hop character jumps out at you with juicy aromas of fruit punch, red berry and pineapple. Bitterness is there, but balanced with a nice malt character.
Feel free to indulge, and if a lampshade comes into play, so be it.

Bottle from Craft Brewed. Pours a clear golden copper with a finger of foam that lingers, then dissipates. Big burst of mango, peach and citrus on the nose with some pine & strawberry aromas. Nice full body with a slightly oily texture. Dry on the palate with more pine and citrus zest standing out. Lingering piney tingly bitterness with a big caramel backbone with some light booze as it warms. An unapologetic, big and bold IPA.

Delicious heavyweight DIPA from Bells, a blast of fruit salad hops, earthy bitterness, pine, and resin, with orange and berry on the finish and clingy, oily hops on the fade. Gorgeous texture, smooth and full without a trace of warmth. Pretty great.

Bottle. Clearish orange body, medium puffy cream head. Nose initially melony, also berries, tangerine, papaya, grass, and hints of alcohol. Boozy body with floral/fruity elements (same as noted in the nose), pine needles, and a bitter, rindy, grassy finish. Light nectary sweetness but, on the balance, a dry beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear golden with a white head. Spicy pine and floral hop aroma. Flavor has fresh floral, pine, and citrus hops, but the floral take the lead and give it a nice punch. Very nice.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/5/2018. Pours slightly hazy deep golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big mandarin orange juice, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, red grapefruit, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, honey, toasted bread, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hop and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge mandarin orange juice, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, red grapefruit, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, honey, toasted bread, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of mandarin orange juice, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, red grapefruit, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, honey, toasted bread, light caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hop and bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/sticky, and fairly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 9%. Overall this is a fantastic DIPA! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hop and bready malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish, not aggressive. Amazing Galaxy/Idaho 7 profile. Extremely juicy and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; great bready malt backbone, and minimal residual sweetness from lingering resin dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example. Feels like a smoother and less sweet/boozy Hopslam.
