Falls City Hipster Repellant IPA is an American India Pale Ale. This beer used to be cool! A piney and citrusy hop character is nicely balanced by a caramel and toffee malt base. An extra dose of Citra hops was added for dry hopping to give this beer a character that will outlast any trend!

Can. So this is a really bad example of an IPA. Does not give the taste or aroma a fair representation of the style.

12 ounce can from Total Wine Lexington Green, 8/27/22. Thought this was a new brewery, but I had two of their beers on my 2014 Kentucky Fried Charleston trip, which, IIRC, was a trip to Charleston Brewvival by way of Lexington, KY. Hazy amber, medium beige head, average retention. Aroma of leafy hop, mango. Taste is grapefruit, mango, orange, sweet lemon, lemongrass. Moderate bitterness. I’m drinking it, and I like it, so I must not be a hipster.

Draft pour at Doc Crow's Southern Smokehouse & Raw Bar in Louisville. Poured a nice clear copper color with a small, foamy white head. Aroma was a ton of floral and bitter hops, light citrus. Some sweetness. Flavor was a classic IPA - big bitter notes.

12 oz. can from Craft Brewed in Nashville, TN. Pours a crystal clear orange-gold color with a large beige head and excellent retention. Good lacing. Strong piney hops aroma. The hops flavor and bitterness is even stronger than the nose. For hops heads only. Crisp and drying mouthfeel and finish. The 6.8% ABV is invisible. I love the marketing though. Tick.

Draft at brewery. Dark, cloudy amber, cap of foamy, bubbly head. Aroma is light, sweet, fruity. Taste has notes of citrus, caramel. Leaning towards the classic IPA style, with light citrus elements.

Draft at J's. Pours a clearish gold with a finger of foam that sits, then dissipates. Bright citrus and tangerine aromas. Smooth, crisp and clean on the palate. Easy drinking, but flavorful. Low malt with a relatively balanced but dry finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Hipster Repellant on 11 Aug 2018 at 14:28 - Score: 7

Guess I'm siding with the hipsters on this one. Very malt-heavy IPA, awash in buttery caramel and subtle toffee notes backed up by veins of orange marmalade, herbal streaks, and a lingering piney bite. The bitterness is appreciated, but the hops never reach the bright juiciness they need to offset the sticky malts. Pours orange-gold with a lingering white head and decent lacing. Caramel nose doesn't quite live up to your IPA wishes. Bright, well-carbonated texture and medium body are nice. Quite skippable.

This beer repels hipsters like vintage record shops... Light citrus and some malt. Tangy finish with some bitterness. Not a great deal of balance. Bottle.
