A West Coast IPA inspired by the Chaos & Awe exhibit at the Frist Art Museum.

A pandemonium of citra, mosaic, and idaho 7 collide into bursts of red grapefruit, crushed pineapple, and resinous pine. An unexpected departure from our usual NEIPA, but with the same nuanced patterns of round, balanced juiciness. CHAOS THEORY is inspired by the Frist’s newest exhibit, Chaos and Awe.

Tasty non-hazed IPA from BI, a bright, citric pint with a mellow, cracker-ish malt base completely overshadowed by the flood of hops. Grapefruit, berry, and not-quite-ripe apricot are backed by pine and hints of resin, with a mild bitterness on the finish touched by citrus and yeast. Front-loaded--the back end loses steam, leading to a somewhat forgettable fade--but enjoyable nonetheless. Pours a clear gold with a brief white head and modest lacing. Immense Mosaic and Idaho 7 aromatics, while the feel is sparkly and medium-bodied. What can I say: I appreciate the lack of haze, even if I'm not blow away by this pint.

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a clear gold with a finger of foam that dissipates and leaves a ring around the inside of the glass. Great lacing the whole way down. Pineapple, apricot, grapefuit and dank aromas permeate the nose. Clean, light malt bill that let's the hops shine. Good carbonation, with some more dank notes on the palate...pear and melon as it warms with more citrus zest. Lingering medium bitterness on the finish and quite dry. A nice change of pace for BI.
