pFriem’s Oude Kriek is made by adding lush, juicy cherries grown right up the road, to our year-old Lambic-inspired ale and letting them get to know each other for another ten months. Judging from the aromas of fruity, nuttiness and bright flavors of cherry pie and berries with a dry, tangy finish, they’re a perfect match.

Bottle split at L6, thanks to the Wingman, 16/01/20. Lightly hazed strawberry jam to pink with a crimson cap that fades in time. Nose is cherry yoghurt, funk, damp oak, hay bale, barnyard notes. Taste comprises tarte cherries, funk, damp hay, vinous twang, red apple, cherry stones. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced acidic kiss. Decent.

Corked-top bottle, 0.375l. Aroma of barnyard, grapes, brett, cherries, oak and hint of a sulphur. Pours cloudy pale ruby color with totally diminishing off-white head and sparkling appearance. Bottle shared at the Columbus tasting 16/01/2020. Many thanks A light hazed pink coloured pour with a halo of small white head. Aroma is light sour, pink, raspberry, lacto, . Flavour is composed of tart cherry, strawberry, cucumber, green onion, sour, prickly pear. Palate is semi sweet, tart, mellow pucker, lively prickly carbonation. Good . Cherry yogurt, lingering.

Bottle shared in London - cheers to WW. Pours mostly clear pink with a creamy white head. Solid, lightly funky, good tart cherry, restrained acidity. Light bodied with active carbonation. Quenching finish, lovely tart cherry. Excellent.

Bottle 2019, 5.6% Clear red with small off-white head. Aroma is malt, berries, cherries, baking yeast, funk and lemon. Flavour is malt, berries, cherry, sweet, citric, sour, lemon, funk and a little dry.

Bottle from trade with Hackobock, many thanks. Pale reddish with small head. Funky cherries, some barnyard, a bit of yoghurt. Fairly complex with a bit of tartness lingering. Nice balance, but a bit diluted.
