Thick with earthy graininess, underlined by unexpected vegetal notes and a wickedly dry finish. Very heavy-handed and clunky, with a pronounced sweetness underneath the rough malts and an assertive bitterness too pronounced for the style. Very American, not very German. Mandarina Bavarias are a nice touch, but overall way too aggressive for such a nuanced style. Pass.

Hazy pale, dull though. Light spice. Big malt, spicy, a little rough and husky.

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a clear straw gold with a finger of foam that lingers. Light stone fruit aroma with grass and melon. Low malt, super crushable on the palate. Fruity, with some lemon and mineral on the finish. Really enjoyable dry-hopped lager. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pilsner on 16 Apr 2018 at 19:30 - Score: 7.
