This hearty brown ale is named for its original brewer - our awesome Beerman Chad Opfer.

Smoove Opferator started out as a very small experiment taproom-exclusive brown ale named “Brown Sugar.” Since then, it has undergone a name makeover and an expanded distribution to Iowa and Wisconsin. The taste is still the same as when we brewed the first small batch.

Deep mahogany color with a hefty malt body. Robust flavors of roasted almonds, hints of chocolate with a slight bitterness in the finish. Oh so smoove!

22oz bottle pours a veru dark brown with some thin, tan head. Nose is interesting, its more in the range of stout than brown, but I am NOT complaining, toast, chocolate, rootbeer, some almond, some brown sugar, some caramel. Flavor follows closely, lots of caramel and brown sugar, mild toast, malt, some raisin, mild vanilla. Full bodied but dry and fairly smooth. An elevated brown ale. On the verge of a stout.

Growler during RBWG. Pours a very dark brown with medium tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is roasted malt and cocoa. Medium mouth with toffee, nuts, roast, with light dry finish, very good.

12oz tap at Dexters. Wow. Wasn’t expecting much from this, but it absolutely nails it. Deep brown-black body. massive beige head that settles down after a minute or two. Sweet cocoa chocolate caramel aroma. Sweet toffee/coffee finish. Super tasty, thick woody caramel. Fantastic for the style, maybe a little sugary and sweet. Heavy body for the ABV. World Class Brown Ale.

On tap @ El Bait Shop. Cheers Uli! A bit murky dark brown appearance with a brown head. Nutty, caramel, roasted chocolate malty aroma with some spicy hops. The hops are even spicier in the flavor. Herbal and piney. Some residual sweetness with chocolate and toffee notes but overall pretty bitter. OK.
