We were looking forward to this beer...and it turned out we were right to. With 11% ABV it’s a strong beer for beerlovers that enjoy their peated flavors. The original bitter coffee and chocolate flavors of Hel & Verdoemenis (translates as Hell & Damnation) are enriched with the peat, woody, roasty tastes of the exceptional Port Charlotte barrels. The beer aged in these barrels for over 6 months.

On tap at TCBW 2016. Has the used motor oil look, just with a small, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, prayed whisky, chocolate, oak and hints of coffee and alcohol. Smooth, complex and very flavourful. Oooh, excellent sipper!

Draught @ TCBW 2016. Pours pitch black with a smooth brown head. Aroma of stingy peaty notes, roasty malts, heavy licorice notes, hints of earthiness and oaky wood. Taste is smooth, sweet and peaty with some hints of oak, roastiness, licorice and ash. Finish is roasty, peaty and sweetish with some hints of earthiness. Okay.

Bottle, 0.33l, shared with Hoppiness crew. Pours pitch black with medium soapy and totally diminishing light brown head. Aroma of whiskey, roasted malt, cocoa, licorice and wood. Taste starts with moderate sweet deep roasted malt, follows by strong whiskey and earthy note with some licorice, mouthfeel is warming with well hidden alcohol and moderate bitter finish. Full body, thick texture and average carbonation in palate. Real masterpiece...
