Bottle courtesy of maschusch. 1982 vintage. Pours hazy burnt orange with a small offwhite head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is funky and smokey with crackers, lemon juice, green apples, smoked ham, moist hay, leather, barnyard, moist soil and lemon zest. Taste is sour, tiny fruity, slightly smokey and funky. Finish is sour with crackers, lemon juice, apples, smoked meat, leather, hay, moist soil, barnyard and lemon zest. Always cool to drink something as old as you. I’m about as sour and dry but not sure I’m as smokey. Solid gueuze but suspect it was better many years ago.

Vintage from the 80s. bottle was incredibly dirty unsurprisingly. So musty on the nose like smelling an old basement with cheese rind and leather shoes. taste was just about the same. flat cheesy, stale, mild dessert wine port notes with dried cow dung. Considering the age, not bad but couldn’t get through the glass.

Bottle. 1981 vintage. Pours dirty brown with no head. Nose and taste of dirty earth, caramel, pond water, dirt and more dirt with some old farmhouse sludge. Lots of sediment. Well past its prime. Medium body.

Bottle, 25 cl.. Gueuze Eylenbosch cuvée spéciale, exp. date 1991. Nice amber colour, still a bit foam. Medium carbonation. This old beer has some oxidation. Sweet/sour taste with notes of caramel, citrus and candy sugar. I tought this was a traditional geuze without sugar or sweeteners, but it wasn’t.

1990 Vintage. 375mL bottle at Grote Dorst, pours a fairly clear copper with a small white head. Aroma is full of dry cardboard, wood, and old dry leather. Flavour tastes very old, with notes of dry cardboard, wood, and leather. Tastes very old with no sign of any "off" notes despite this being 23 years old. I would love to have tried this new side-by-side with an old one, but this tastes fantastic. What a wonderful experience to try such an old beer.

Courtesey of and thx! to ClubGonzo (Stian).#50 Geuze rating. 1990 Vintage. 375 ml. Bottle sampled @ In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst during the Tour De Geuze. Darker amber orange appearance, head is slightly denser white bubbles around the edges of the glass only. Smell is musty, dusty cellar, old candy, clear oxidation notes – this has been pasturized & filter if I am not mistaken, some vintage notes or regular beers gone past their peak but light hear, cobwebs, cottage & strong oxidized & filtered etc. beer. Taste is musty, dust, cobwebs, herbal, light bitterness and candy in tack, lemon, clear signs of oxidation etc. mainly because this was tempered with, mellow candy sweetness, cardboard,… Flat and much better than the Framboos (s*cked) or Kriek and way better than it has any right to be.

Bottle at DHVL, year unknown.... It pours clear amber, with a quickly dissipating bubbly white head. The nose is wood, earth, farmyard, sour yoghurt, tangy, hard honey and sweet over-ripe fruit. The taste is sweet-sour, wood, pithy lemon, lots of apple, pear skin, some underlying sweetness, tanginess and a touch of vinegar, with long, lightly tart finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Not my favourite gueuze ever, but this one has aged gracefully.
