500ml bottle from Middle Farm, Firle. Poured a clean medium amber with a short-lived, frothy white head. The aroma is malt, nutty. The flavour is moderate bitter and sweet, with a smooth, fresh, malt, light citrus, nutty, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Bottle from Harveys Brewery Shop. Pours a slightly hazy amber/orange colour with a small off white head. Hardly any carbonation in the glass. Faint aromas of marmalade, biscuits, straw, malt, hops, apples and floral notes. Taste is much more fuller with the same flavours as in the aroma. Citrus peel, biscuits, a little spice and an earthy hop bitterness that lingers on the palate. Tangy. Long aftertaste and a dry finish. Medium to full bodied with a slick oily mouthfeel. it is not a session beer but one to sip and savour. Quite nice.

500ml bottle. Clear, amber colour with small to average, frothy to macropore, diminishing, white head. Sweet-ish, fruity hoppy and mellow malty aroma has notes of Williams pear, preserved yellow apple. Taste is mellow malty, fruity hoppy, again notes of Williams pear and preserved yellow apple, but now of lower intensity and additionally joined by dry hoppy hints of gooseberry. Outmoded, but not bad.

Bottle from brewery in Lewes. If this is what beers were like being sent around the world in the 19th century, take me back! The Star of Eastbourne is delicious. Strong, full of flavour, slightly sweet and slightly bitter. You must be in the mood for a more meaty beer, but if you are, enjoy, it’s a stayer.(pre Feb 2017) Bottle at the Royal Oak, Borough, London. Sure it's a decent English ale. meaty. just feels a bit sickly boozy in the end. 4.1 to 3.5
