Pours unclear brown. Good white head. Smell is bit sweet, not very intense. Taste is bitter, sweet, some earthy, herbal. Bitterness builds quite high here. Coffee notes, almost, but not quite. More spicyness in the back, as well as the earlier mentioned earthyness, forest-in-the-fall. Lovely.

(bottle, 33cl, subtitled: Paters & Prinsen, 8.0% abv) Hazy, ruby brown colour with a beige huge foamy head. Sweet and slightly mouldy toast-malty aroma with leafy and berry-fruity notes. Sweet flavour with a tinge of sourness, medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Leafy toast-malty and slightly leathery taste with notes of dark and red berries; caramely and berry-fruity, also discreetly sour finish. Fine Dubbel. 11.X.11

Chocolatey brown colour with thick, lasting lacy head. Aroma has intense dark fruit sweetness and plenty of maltiness. Flavour is similar. Sweetness is quite high but it works well. Strong in-mouth carbonation enlivens the flavours by bashing them all around the palate.

Bottle, at Oud Arsenaal. It is an unclear, golden-brown beer with a creamy, beige head of moderate size. Caramel, roasted notes, and dried fruits. Some hops. It’s sweet in the mouth, yet quite dry, with caramel and a pleasant bitterness. Full body. A quite nice one, tasteful, but not very complex. 110429
