Copper.malty, some hops.dry.toffee, a little nutty.slightly metallic. No bbe-label

A coppery beer, a head is quite small and blond. Aroma has wood and caramel maltyness, slight mustyness. Taste has caramel maltyness, wood, some mustyness. Medium bodied. Too much of mustytness.

Clear amber brown body medium foamy off white head. Bready nutty earthy aroma. Bready nutty earthy flavor. Medium body moderately low carbonation. 7/4/7/4/15 3.7

Bottle from a shop in Leipzig. Medium Brown, small head, biscuit caramel nose. Lightly sweet malt flavor, nutty with marsh-reminiscent bitterness & aftertaste, not overly sweet. Pretty decent.

Pour is a clear amber with a large tan head. Aroma is some old earthy malt. Flavor is a nice toasted malt with a little treacle. It is a bit thin but a decent english maltiness.

US version 6-6-4-4-3.5 '4.6' (aug 19, 2021) Bottle from PTI Bryan. Clear clear off pale color, but not as dark as iced tea, more light orange brown. Creamy head. Nose of malt. Taste is just a little rude up front but I think I'm getting used to it. Has a somewhat whisky attitude about it. Good level of CO2. Some difficult non-hop bitterness settling in the back of the throat. Yes, typical old style old country scottish with an attitude towards scotch ale feel. Goes down fairly easy, but probably would not buy a sixer of these. Good for a tick, thanks Briney.

Export bottle/keg version 6-6-5-6-7 '6' (apr 23, 2007) Not looking forward to this, the last two bitters I had did not impress me; I’m thinking I don’t care for this style. Nice classy bottle, not your norm. Pour is definitely darker than the ubiquitous american beers. Very nice aroma, like candy or something. No head on the pour just a ring around the inside edge of the glass. The taste is gentlemanlike and friendly, a very acceptable brew! This really had much better carbonation that the other bitters I’ve tried. Has a roasty laid back flavor that is not too harsh on the taste buds. With each drink there is a mild to medium bitterness that builds on the back of the throat. This is in no way like the more oppressive bitterness I have detected in other bitters. Just goes to show, don’t judge a beer by it’s style! Much better than Tetleys English Ale and Boddingtons Pub Ale. This beer is leaps and bound better than those two! If I didn’t know better, I would have classified this as an american lager because of it’s smoothness and tingly carbonation!
