Malty and hoppy, we at Belhaven love the classic Scottish Ale and we've been brewing it longer than any of the other beers we produce. Delivering a sweet, smooth and creamy finish, Scottish Ale has a stunning ruby colour in the glass. Magic.

275ml bottle, Best Before 1995 (!) @ the beer tasting at the end of the world, Chez Sophie, Marc '20. Thanks Jeremy for this. Perhaps a little unfair rating so I've given a kind mark. Rated for my records only. Oily leathery barley wine, not undrinkable, not too dusty. A taste of history.

Tap. Amber color, good creamy head. Fruity flavor, just a bit sweet. Apple and a bit salty. Otherwise rather bland and fizzy. Fairly thin.

1719...not every brewery will celebrate their 300th anniversary this year. Cheers to Belhaven, who do make better beers than this one.

Draught - Nitro @ Albion. Dark amber with large creamy off-white head, malt aroma, high carbonation, sweetish malt taste, a bit fruity, toffee, thin body, abrupt finish. Not an interesting brew.

330 ml bottle. Pours clear dark amber coloured, medium foamy head. Brown sugar, caramel, roasted nuts, a bit citrus. Malty sweetness, light dry bitterness. Medium bodied, watery texture, abrupt finish, soft carbonated. Not good, too sweet.
