Bottle. Nice. Brown, caramel, little sweet, very malty, brown ale like. Like a American Brown with a light Belgian feel. Nice.

Collab between Schubros and Gulden Spoor, bottle from Willems. Thin, irregular, off-white head retaining quite well, deep and warm amber colour with coppery hue, quiet sparkling, more or less clear initially with lots of minuscule yeast bits floating around. Fairly strong Belgian aroma of marmelade, overripe peach, banana, mango, dust, bitter honey, candied ginger and other spicy phenol effects, straw, rhum, butterscotch, vague iron but ’naturally’ so. Estery, sweet onset, very fruity with notes of banana, apricot, strawberry and orange, deep and soft sourish edge, soft carbo, supple and somewhat oily mouthfeel, very caramelly and lightly bready malt body with toasted accents, rather ’dirty’ yeasty finish with ongoing malt sweetness, earthy and peppery hop bitterishness providing sufficient balance against the initial sweetness and a clear presence of slightly astringent gin-like alcohol heating the throat. The alcohol is way too obvious here and the overall profile could do with a bit more ’cleansiness’ and less ’yeastiness’, but otherwise this is quite enjoyable.

330 ml. bottle. Purchased @ Willems & Zoon0 BBF 08/2015. Deep orange, creamy off-white. Nose is oddly medicinal, plaster yeast, chemical plaster dough, odd plaster orange. Taste is medicinal, faintly chemical orange, faintly chemical caramel orange, medicinal alcohol coated grains, chemical sweetish, chemical wash powder thick odd sugar, medicinal. Solid body. Far too many off-putting notes, not sure what happened here but this isn’t it.

16/05/2015 @home, 33cl bottle from Drinks4U, Deinze. Hazy brown/red colour with nice head. Lots of milkchocolate in aroma and taste, dark malts, lightly some coffee, spice and honey. Complex taste but sometimes feels a bit strange, but not bad at all. Reminds of the "Zeven Zonden" Beers.

Brewed at Gulden Spoor, Be Medium, dense yellow head, stable over vigorously carbonated foxy amber beer. Sweet, caramelly nose with banana, toffee, parsley, clove. Sharp-toasted malts’ flavour, scorched honey and caramel; finish is spicy: clove, allspice. Bitter-sweet alcohol tang, getting more bitter retronasal. Medium bodied, quite slick, agressive to fiery MF, alcoholwarming. Poor. Below what I would expect from Gulden Spoor. Californian ideas on what is "Belgian", OTOH... Aalbeke??? for crying out loud... Many thanks to Mathieu and Louis!
