Keg at Beavertown. Pours clear, deep reddish brown with a creamy, khaki head. The nose holds rounded chocolate, dark fruits, berries. Medium sweet flavournwith lots of milk chocolate, mild ashy roast, raisins, other ripe berries, mellow bitterness. Medium to full bodied, lightly oily, with fine carbonation. Balanced finish, more sweet chocolate, raisins. Quite fun overall.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours jet black with a light tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, loads of liquorice, sticky, umami, dark chocolate, earth and saltiness. The is slick, oily, chewy, crazy amounts of liquorice, liquorice allsorts, umami, blueberry pie, salty edge, earth, toasty malt and a touch of alcohol warmth with a slick finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Rich stuff. Good, but there is too much liquorice going on for me. Intense!

Bottle from Bottle Baron. Black body with a thin tan head. Very faint lacing. Aroma of liquorice and espresso. Flavour of salted chocolate, soy sauce and rust. Thin to medium body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. Itβs as a Sweet Stout by style but it smells and tastes very savoury. I love that βThe North Seaβ is listed on the ingredients list.
