Bottle from Appellation Wines, Comely Bank. Thanks Ash! Pours hazy red-brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of toffee, wood, resin, vanilla. Taste is sweet, boozy, caramel, spice, more resin and toffee. Sweet, sticky finish.

Bottle from Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Appearance - deep cloudy brown to red. Thin lacy off white head. Nose - wholemeal bread and burnt toffee. Taste - fudge and burnt bread. A touch boozy but not too much. Palate - rich and full bodied but not particularly cloying. Overall - good.

Bottle from Cork & Cask. It pours cloudy dark red - brown with a medium bubbly light tan head. The aroma is sweet, oily, sticky, toffee, piney, varnish, red fruits, red berry, jam, brown bread, rivita and spice. The taste is dry, bitter, oily, resinous, slick, sticky, spicy, brown bread, red fruit, strawberry jam, victoria sponge and wood with a slick, bitter finish. Medium+ body, average carboantion and oily mouth-feel. Toothy gear. Plenty of flavour. Fun stuff.

Bottles from Cork & Cask (2018) and can from Drinkmonger (2024). Murky brown body with a few tiny flecks floating beneath dense beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of caramel, fig, gingerbread, pine and strawberry syrup. Flavour of toffee, mashed strawberry, hop spice and pine. Medium to full body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. This is a strong, hoppy, utterly delicious beer. I love Red Rocker and this is even better. It’s rich yet incredibly easy to drink for the ABV. I first tried this in 2018 (rated 4.2) and six years on, I think it’s even tastier (rated 4.4). Possibly my favourite Cromarty beer.
