Black beer with a thick light brown head. Chocolate malt aroma. Taste is rich and malty with light chocolate and a dash of coffee, some fruit. Nice rich coffee and chocolate aftertaste. Very pleasantly surprised by this, it was really tasty.

Bottle from Great Grog. Black body with a thick tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of charcoal and coffee grounds. Flavour of plum and dark chocolate. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. A solid beer - I’ve been impressed with 71 Brewing's output so far.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours opaque black with a small tan head. The aroma is earthy roast, plenty of liquorice, umami, sticky, oily, treacle, bit of toffee and fruit cake. The taste is bitter - sweet, earthy roast, liquorice, umami, treacle, fruit cake, touch of cherry cola/Dr Pepper about it, roasted malt, charred wood and some peppery spice with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Well rounded stuff. Decent.
