In the book of Exodus, the ancient Hebrews survived 400 years of bondage before the ultimate supreme court dropped the 10 deadly Plagues on the land of the taskmasters and the head dictator, Pharaoh. Even then, only begrudgingly, did he Let My People Go. The freedom ride across, nay through the sea left a band of wandering nomads broke and suffering, no doubt with a profound hunger – and a mighty thirst. Enter the Manna: a glorious gift to nourish body and soul. Manna was said to combine the tastes of everything most delicious to each individual, depending on their desire. And as the Good Book says, Each shall gather according to one’s need and shall enjoy a double portion for thine chosen day of rest. Manna fed the entire tribe, but tradition suggests the righteous received manna ground in a heavenly mill, while the wicked had to grind it below for themselves. Hear o’ Tribe of Shmaltz – Behold: A celebration of the flower of the craft beer revolution! A golden opportunity to feed your inner hop head and rejoice in HOP MANNA, our newest delicacy of the modern He’brew Beer family. L’Chaim! Dry Hopped with Centennial, Cascade and Citra (Centennial and Cascade in Batch 4).

From a 1 Pt 6 Fl Oz bottle on 8/10/2012. Pours a medium to dark golden with a big fluffy white head. Has a very pleasant floral, fruity, resiny hop aroma. The flavour follows suit, with sweet citrus fruit (especially orange and mandarin) up front, followed by a big sticky, resiny, piney hop bitterness, with just a touch of grapefruit. Not too much maltiness is evident, but this is none the less a lovely, well balanced fruit/hop driven IPA.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Liquor Max Loveland. Pours a hazy orange appearance with a cream colored head. Mild garlic, piney, earthy hoppy, mild grapefruity aroma. Somewhat spicy, orange/grapefruity, onion, a bit tangy, rich pale malty flavor. Pretty good.

Bottle - Amazing fruits and hops, sweet with some citrus. Orange, clear with thick creamy head. Upfront bitterness, resin and grapefruit. Smells so much better than it tastes, obviously due to dry hopping.

Bottle. Pale amber with a large white head. Aroma is Citra dominated, with lemon and ruby grapefruit, herbs and light caramel. Thinnish body with (perhaps too) low carbonation. Bittersweet with the citrus flavour verging on sour. Malt flavours are discreet, but their honeyed nature goes well with the lemon. Refreshing. Pepper and some pine creep up in the quite bitter finish.

bottle - Pours hazy orange with a one finger light tan head. The aroma is very citrus rich with orange and grapefruit prominent. The flavor has high bitterness with assertive grapefruit character, a medium body, and a long bitter finish. Excellent IPA.

Clear deep copper coloured body with a nice three centimetre tall off-white head and a nice rich bronze glow. Aroma of fresh grassy and resiny hops, a lot of apricots, some sugars and a little bit of malty earthiness. Medium-bodied; Assertive piney and floral hoppiness up front with a good bitter malt earthiness and some light caramel noticeable. Aftertaste shows a good blend of hops and malt, some lighter caramelised sugar flavours and a pleasant fruit flavour to finish off the beer. Overall, a decent beer - not amazing, but wroth trying if you can find it - the balance between the hops and malt were great. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased earlier today at K&E Beverage Center in New Paltz, New York sampled later in the evening at home in New Paltz on 21-July-2012.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a very nice 2 finger dense off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Some nice soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, orange rind, pine, mango, herbal, floral, grass, earth, caramel, and spiciness. Pretty nice aromas with good balance and strength. Quite dank and resinous feeling. Taste of grapefruit, pine, herbal, grass, orange rind, floral, lemon zest, earth, mango, caramel, wheat, and piny spiciness. Good amount of spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, pine, caramel, mango, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a while. Malt balance is a little weak, as this leans much more towards a pretty astringent lasting bitterness. Some pretty good flavor balance; but a little high on the spicy pine resin in my opinion. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a good IPA. A little too piny and spicy; but has some good hop flavor complexity and balance. Smooth and enjoyable to sip on with some intense hop flavor.
