Hand-pulled half-pint at the Crown Inn, Oakengates on 26th May 2024. Dark brown body, beige topping. Slightly nutty in nature with a solid malty base, thought it might be a bit smoother with 'velvet' in the name.

Cask at Brewery Tap, Chester. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a medium sized off-white head and good lacing. There’s malts and smoke in the aroma, but it’s all a bit weak. In the mouth it is sweet and fruity with a creamy texture and malts and cherries to the fore. Later on therese are joined by cola and hints of humbugs and toffee. Finish is fruity and slightly dry. Not a world beater, but definitely decent.

Handpull cask at the Swan and Rushes, Leicester. Red-brown, translucent. Malt, oats and chocolate in the simple, honest aroma. Sweet/spicy taste, with a slightly sourish caramel biscuit finish. Weak palette. Pretty good but not a game-changer. But then again it was never meant to be.

Cask at The Blisland Inn. Pours brown with a creamy light tan head. Aroma of dark malt and something roasty which only suggests coffee to me. That’s probably not it, but that’s how my brain interprets it. A bit light in body, and the flavor has that unusual "coffee". There’s dark malt, but the roasty flavor is distinctive.

Cask@the Spitting Feathers Brewery Tap. Clear dark brown looks with a thin tan head. Rather strange nose that somehow reminded me of pencil sharperner shavings. Lacking in body. Some roasted character in the flavour, but everything seemed just a bit wide of the mark here. Disappointing.
