Third of a cask pint at the Scottish Real Ale Festival in Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange on 7th July 2017. Dark amber with a ruby hue, the head a lightly tanned affair. Malty molasses rule the nose and taste, caramel and toffeee being the flavours and aromas. Add some red berry notes and you get a very pleasant semi-sweet beer indeed.

Prototype can from the brewer. Hazy amber/brown body with a thin beige head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of burnt sugar, treacle and toffee. Flavour of caramel and stewed tea. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. Really good - sweet and flavoursome. I’d like to try this on cask.

On cask at SRAF. Appearance - dark brown to black. Some head for a change. Always welcome! Nose - much expected toffee note. Some muesli. Taste - more toffee. Caramel shortbread. Palate - close tomedium bodied. Creamy middle section. Fairly good finish. Overall - decent.

Keg at Soul Bar, Aberdeen. It pours very dark...like ruby - black with a pretty decent beige head. The aroma is roasted malt, earthy, liquorice, coffee grounds, wood, tangy plum, prune and date. The taste is bitter - sweet, roasted malt, toasty, earth, coffee grounds, rather fruity, cola cubes, red berry, and cacao with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Decent fruity character. This actually tastes not bad on keg, would like to try it on cask.
