This massive Stout pours a mahogany black with a thick, brown head. The aroma is all chocolate and toasted malt. The first wave of flavor embraces anise and dark, bitter chocolate but opens up to include coffee, smoke and rich sweet malt.

Draught at Tadg’s. Black with thick chocolate milkshake head. Nose of chocolate, coffee, well roasted. Flavors are of coffee, cream, chocolate, licorice, roasty wood. Thick and rich and quite nice.

Release #7. Bottle. Pours with a black hued body with a massive deep brown head that lasts. The body coats the glass and there is great lace. Unreal retention. Aromas are nutty, bready, roasty, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, toasty, molasses, iodine, bakery fresh bread. Malt forward, but not too sweet. Balanced herbal hop component. Flavors are thick and big. Medium to medium strong bitterness. Herbal hop, toasty, dry, rich cocoa, spicy, molasses, nutty, tobacco, leather and light ash. Roasty, velvety, coffee, iodine. Somewhat clean ester wise. Complex malt impression. Really good. Fuller bodied, medium dry, warming, bitter and slightly roasty throughout the duration. Viscous. Medium so slightly high carbonation for the style. Another solid beer from Epic!

22 ounce bottle into snifter, batch 3 bottled 2/14/2011. Pours pitch black color with a nice 1-2 finger dense mocha colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some good soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, toffee, apple, raisin, char, biscuit, earth, and light herbal spiciness. Pretty nice aromas with good balance and complexity; a bit too fruity from the yeast. Taste of big dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, caramel, toffee, biscuit, toast, earth, charred malt, nuttiness, and herbal spiciness. Good amount of spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, coffee, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice flavor balance and complexity; with a good balance of bitterness and malt flavors. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a fairly creamy and slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice imperial stout. Nice roasted malt and hop flavor complexity with good balance. Very enjoyable offering.

22 oz. bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of medium roast, espresso and some chalk. Flavour is very roasty with a high hop presence, some sweet chocolate malts and some booze on the finish. Medium complexity with a roasty, chocolatey, boozy finish. Very good.

Release 3 bomber from Total Wine Chesapeake, VA. Pours very dark brown with a thin tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, chocolate and a bit of a leathery note. The taste is bitter roasted malts, coffee syrup, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, and a bitter hop finish. Medium-full bodied. Nice.

10/25/11 Bomber from State Liqur Store #18, Cedar City. Release # 3 9.1% ABV according to the label. Nose is chocolate, roastiness, and hints of blackberries and smoke. Black with a medium, heavily lacing, cinnamon tan head. Flavor is chocolate, moderate smokiness, coffee, and a light bitterness. Nose is big chocolate with decent smoke and hints of coffee. Description as above. This beer pours flat black with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Rich, roasty body with flavors of black coffee, sweet malt and bakers chocolate. Some hops in the background too. The finish is malty with a lingering sweet roast aftertaste. Solid Imperial Stout all around.

Bottle @ home. Black appearance with a dark brown appearance with a pretty thick, syrupy pour. Roasty, milky, creamy, chocolatey nose. Milky, creamy, fairly bitter, chocolate malty, roasty flavor. Roasty, chocolatey aftertaste.
