Keg at BD Aberdeen. it pours clear deep brown with a medium beige head. The aroma is earthy roast, coffee grounds, cacao, charred wood and a touch of spice. The taste is drying, bitter - sweet, toasted brown bread, earthy roast, coffee cake, spice and floral perfumed character with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not a run of the mill brown ale. Interesting stuff.

Keg at the Rake, Borough. Rich chocolate aroma. Darkest brown. Creamy beige head. A sweetness which carries through to the finish, however there are hints of bitterness. Spiced chocolate. Medium bodied. Soft. Creamy. Carbonation more apparent in the long dry finish. Easily the best beer I’ve had today.

Keg at Beavertown. Pours clear brown with a frothy tan head. Some toasted herbs, a little cocoa, brown bread, brown sugars, burnt sugars. Medium sweet flavour with more sugary brown bread, zesty lime rind, some pine. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, mild cocoa, toast, more zesty citrus peel. Novel beer.

Keg at the brewery. Am opaque black dark brown coloured pour with a lasting thin mid tan head. Aroma is sweet nutty malts, perfume, Turkish delight, sandlewood.. Flavour is composed of semi sweet rounded nutty brown malts, little praline, perfume, soapy, lavender. Quite unusual. Palate is medium bodied, moderate carbonation, rounded. Balance is pretty good.
