Our most requested re-brew, we finally got around to it! Treacle cured, salty and sweet smoked bacon with freshly brewed coffee. A fiendishly good breakfast. Now available in beer form. This Imperial breakfast stout uses masses of oats, a little smoked malt for subtle smoky notes and copious amounts of oozy treacle to balance the roasted, bitter coffee bean and fresh coffee additions. A touch of Gros Sel Guerande natural sea salt added to the beer acts to intensify the rich flavours.

Black beer with a thick, dark brown head. Smells of toasty malt and treacle with a little something of a smokey barbecue. Flavour has a little anise, dried fruit, treacle, brown sugar, lots of malt, a bit of chocolate, coffee and spice. A dash of smokey bacon. Lots going on, plenty of body, nice and smooth and too drinkable for the strength by half.

On tap at Port Street Beer House, Manchester. Pours black with medium brownish head. Roasted malts, coffee, licorice, spicy and smoke which I dislike. Sweet with bitterness in finish. Medium bodied.

Bottle shared at home. It poured jet black with a decent light tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, loads of coffee, smoked action, bacon frazzles, treacle and dark chocolate. The taste is slick, rich roasted malt, charred action, dark roast coffee, earth, spice, boosty booze, smoke, treacle, chewy action and burnt wood with a warming and roasted finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Pretty rich and decadent. Nice one.

Nose is rich malts, charr, spice, dark fruit rinds, dark chocolate, Taste comprises chocolate, liquorice, black pepper, treacle toffee, fruit cake, aniseed. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with rising alcohol. Decent enough impy ... good balance and doesn’t get too hot.

500ml bottle courtesy of Clink. Pours exceedingly dark, with a fair deep tan head. Aroma of coffee, liquorice, roasted dark malts. Taste continues, with rich liquorice, red berries, caramel and coffee cake with a faint smokiness to the roasted malts. Coffee gets more intense as you journey through, alongside a rich sweetness that I assume comes from the treacle. Good meaty cold night stout, enjoyed on a cold night watching Planet Earth II.
