Punk IPA is the beer that kick-started it. This light, golden classic has been subverted with new world hops to create an explosion of flavour. Bursts of caramel and tropical fruit with an all-out riot of grapefruit, pineapple and lychee, precede a spiky bitter finish. This is the beer that started it all - and it’s not done yet...

PUNK - Quintessential Empire with an anarchic twist.

Malts:
Marris Otter Extra Pale.

Hops:
Chinook, Simcoe, Ahtanum, Nelson Sauvin.

Can. Light hazy golden, offwhite lace. Pleasant classic citrus, lychee hop aromatics. Medium body, sparkly chewy mouthfeel. Crisp body, good long hop profile. Much better than the last Punk I remember.

330ml bottle. Clear, orangey, golden colour with average to huge, firm, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Piney and citrusy, hoppy aroma, notes of lemon, lemon tea, biscuity, pale malty background. Taste is piney and citrusy fruity hoppy, notes of lemon, lemon tea, a touch of grapefruit, biscuity malty basis with little residual sweetness. Oily texture, smooth and soft palate, fine, soft carbonation. Very clean, more mainstream than the higher abv original Scottish versions.

Slightly hazy pale gold with a frothy white head, and a feint bitter hop aroma. This was one of the first 'craft' beers I tried back in the day, and then it was nectar - not so much now, but still a decent bitter-hopped pale ale, with a background of biscuit malt and some fruit character
