Sample from a bottle @ De Molen. Soft but persistant vinous aroma with licorice and pepper. Vinous flavor, strong notes of claret. Oak, hints of pepper. Flowery, earthy and citrus notes. Just a bit of tartness caused by the Bordeaux yeast. Some butter in the aftertaste. Rodenbach Grand Cru meets Imperial Stout, I’d say. An amazing complexity and softness in this world class beer. Tasted again @ ZZTX after more than 6 years. Caramelly, vinous aroma, Roast. Full bodied, thick, alcoholic. Malty sweet, vinous flavor with roast, laurel, caramel, oak, chocolate. Has matured very well, still full of live. Complex.

Very dark brown beer, just about transparent. Thick beige head. Fresh nose of malt and sea breeze! Light palate, a little dry and airy. Complex brew! Rich malt that presents a little Port Wine and cherry. There is chocolate and a whisper of brandy in there. Tangy fruits and creamy malt. A drop of coca cola rounds things off! Sumptuous tasty beer.
