We mashed in this black Munich lager exactly 24 hours before the start of Britain’s first notable solar eclipse for 16 years. A day later, at the exact moment of totality, we added yeast to the brewed and chilled wort.

There's no name on the bottle of this beer. Just a photo of the eclipse, taken by our wonderful assistant brewer at approximately the same time as Mike was pitching the yeast.

Lagered in-bottle for 5 weeks.

Bottle. Tall Boys, Leeds. Very dark, cola brown. Thin, glossy, sticky, pale tan head. Woody, dark, chocolatey malts. Hint of fruity coffee bean. Taste is light dry, with a woody bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Finishes light dry, Iight bitter, with maybe a hint of smoke on the close. Tell me this is a dry stout, and I’d believe it.

Keg @ The Sportsman, Huddersfield. Black with next to no head. Full of dark malts rather than true lager malts, with a good roasted flavour to be found in here too. Its nose carries a small dirty floralness behind the roasted malts.
