Taking our inspiration from autumn in New England, where pumpkin ales are fall favorites, we brew this saison with real pumpkin and classic fall spices. The real pumpkin creates a rich depth of flavor that is complemented by the spicy clove character of the saison yeast. The traditional pumpkin pie spices add layers of warm spice notes.

From a bottle does have some typical pumpkin aroma but its more a spice olfactory as the session continues. As with most pumpkin beers it difficult to take. Not sure if I can taste any saison in this.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 2/2016. Pours slightly hazy deep golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of pumpkin, pear, apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, pepper, clove, light banana/bubblegum, light honey, toasted biscuit, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of pumpkin/spices, fruity/earthy yeast, and pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of pumpkin, pear, apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, pepper, clove, light banana/bubblegum, light honey, toasted biscuit, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Moderately amount of yeast spiciness and light hop/spice bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, pepper, clove, toasted biscuit, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of pumpkin/spices, fruity/earthy yeast, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light amount of dryness after the finish as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/bready/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good pumpkin/spiced saison style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of pumpkin/spices, fruity/earthy yeast, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. A- Pumpkin, gourds, nutmeg, ginger. A- Golden color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Gourds, ginger, spices, unbalanced. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, spiced finish. O- Smell was alright. Everything else about it was no Bueno. I really liked Fat Jack so I figured this would be alright, and it wasn’t a drain pour, but the longer I drank it the longer that thought weighed on my mind.

Bottle: Clear amber with a short, off-white head. Raw pumpkin, vegetal aroma. Taste is a bit watery, slightly bitter pumpkin and nutmeg. Very minor saison-esque notes..... Overall, pretty weak, just not enough of any of the parts doing enough. Drinkable, but bland.
