Keg at Crown & Anchor. It pours dark mahogany brown with a yellow - beige head. The aroma is earthy, wood, toast, leather, fruit cake, toasted brown sugar and dull smoke. The taste is sweet, bitter - sweet, brown bread, malt loaf, light spice, wood, resin and leather with a dry, woody finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Works pretty well. Decent old ale.

Keg at the hanging bat. Pours deep brown, nose is biscuity toffee, caramel, light fruit, taste is similar, chewy. .

5 Keg at the Hanging Bat. Pours hazy dark red-brown with a thin off-white head. Aromas of treacle toffee, light herbal note. Taste is light sweet, more treacle. Mineral finish. Rich for the strength.
