My German rating # 400. Pours dark brown nearly black with a small creamy beige head. Nose is liquorice and roasted malts. Liquorice mainly but also hints of chocolate, tar and caramel. Very smooth and mellow. Low carbonation. Ends dry and quite sticky. Thanks Kimberland. Nice

From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a huge, tan and slowly collapsing tan head. Roasted malt aroma, light smoked too. Smooth malty, dark flavoured. Mild acidic bitterness showing through and a mild smoked note as well. Mild sweetness slowly decending into a dry and roasted bitter finish. More like a porter than a stout - but quite tasty.

bottle, Dankeschön Jevers Zeuge! Hazy brown colour, medium-sized head. Malty nose. Quite hoppy in the flavour with a lovely combination of roasted malt and caramel with a shy hint of bitter chocolate. Rather bitter for a Stout, but still very nice and unusual.

Black with a lasting light brown head. Weird aroma - chocolate, caramel and molasses, but also mint, earth and some perfumey hops. Dry and bitter without much roast character. Lasting bitter finish.

Bottled, thanks jeverszeuege! Cloudy very dark brown, small beige head. Roasty and earthy nose. Dry and very hoppy. Piney and lightly perfumy. Light to medium bodied with heavily roasted malt flavours such as licorice and tar. Long resiny bitter finish. The powerful bitterness makes it a bit rough, but it is flavourful and quite original.

Test vom 2.5.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 11,8,8,9,10,8 - 8,55

Bügelverschlußflasche: Black coloured, mid-sized brownish head, slowly diminishing with a good lace; cacao and roast-malt in the nose, almost vinous fruitiness in the wings, not to forget the big touch of molasses; dry, moderate bitter flavour, light to medium-bodied; lingering dry bitter finish with notes of cacao, roast malt and a bit of smoked malt. well made Stout, not too far from the originals........
